The Infrastructure of the Operation
Jeffrey Epstein operated multiple properties used for the trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors: a Manhattan townhouse (9 East 71st Street — the world's largest private residence in NYC at 21,000 sq ft); Little Saint James island (US Virgin Islands — dubbed "Paedophile Island" by locals); a New Mexico ranch (Zorro Ranch, 10,000 acres); a Paris apartment (22 Avenue Foch); and a private Boeing 727 aircraft (tail number N908JE — nicknamed "The Lolita Express" by the New York Post). Flight logs from the aircraft — obtained through litigation — document hundreds of flights carrying named passengers to Epstein's properties. These flight logs are public record.
The victims — many of whom have given testimony under oath — describe: a recruitment pipeline using teenage girls in Florida (recruited by other young women paid as "recruiters"); a grooming process that transitioned from massage into sexual abuse; a "client booking" system in which victims were scheduled for specific visitors; recording equipment described in deposition by staff as installed in every guest room. Virginia Giuffre (née Roberts), Epstein's most prominent victim-witness, provided testimony naming Prince Andrew, Alan Dershowitz, Senator George Mitchell, and others. Alan Dershowitz — Epstein's own defence attorney in the 2008 plea deal — denied the allegations. Prince Andrew settled the civil suit in 2022 for a reported £12 million without admitting liability.
In 2007-08, despite FBI evidence documenting 36 identified victims, US Attorney (later Trump Labour Secretary) Alexander Acosta agreed to a non-prosecution agreement with Epstein that: gave Epstein immunity from all federal charges; gave immunity to "any potential co-conspirators"; resulted in an 18-month county jail sentence (from which Epstein was released 12 hours a day, 6 days a week on "work release" to his Palm Beach office). Acosta later told Trump transition officials: "I was told Epstein 'belonged to intelligence' and to leave it alone." Acosta resigned as Labour Secretary in 2019 after the Miami Herald's Julie K. Brown published her investigation "Perversion of Justice." Epstein was arrested in July 2019, charged with federal sex trafficking, and died in federal custody on August 10, 2019. The medical examiner ruled it suicide by hanging. The forensic pathologist retained by Epstein's family, Dr. Michael Baden, ruled the injuries more consistent with homicide by strangulation.
The Intelligence Connection
Investigative journalist Whitney Webb's One Nation Under Blackmail (2022) — the most comprehensively documented account of the Epstein network — traces Epstein's financial backers, social connections, and operational methods to: the Robert Maxwell (Ghislaine's father) network of intelligence assets; Les Wexner (founder of Victoria's Secret and The Limited), who gave Epstein power of attorney and the Manhattan townhouse; MEGA Group — an informal circle of Jewish American billionaires with documented intelligence connections. Webb documents that the operational model — sex trafficking combined with compromising filming of influential targets — was used by intelligence services in the same period by Robert Maxwell, by Roy Cohn (attorney to both Joe McCarthy and a young Donald Trump), and by the Chicago Outfit before them.
The Unreleased Client List
The court-ordered release of documents in the Virginia Giuffre v. Ghislaine Maxwell case (2021-2024) produced over 900 pages of testimony and exhibits. The documents contain 170+ names. Many are described by victims under oath. As of 2026, no client beyond Epstein (deceased) and Maxwell (imprisoned) has been criminally charged in the United States. The FBI's investigation — which seized a hard drive and 12 terabytes of data from Epstein's Manhattan townhouse in 2019 — has produced no further prosecutions. The standard explanation for this — that more charges are "still being investigated" — has been offered continuously for over six years.
