Standard Oil and the Model of Monopoly

John D. Rockefeller Sr. founded Standard Oil in 1870. By 1880 it controlled 90% of US oil refining. By 1890 it effectively controlled US oil transportation, storage, and distribution. The Standard Oil model was not simply "cornering a market" โ€” it was a systematic blueprint for how to acquire monopoly control of an entire industry: gain control of the chokepoints (pipelines, railroads, refineries), use predatory pricing to eliminate competitors, absorb surviving competitors, and then use the resulting pricing power to extract maximum rent from the economy.

In 1911, the Supreme Court broke up Standard Oil into 34 successor companies. The Rockefeller family retained large share positions in all of them. The "breakup" created more wealth than the monopoly had โ€” the shares of the successor companies rose dramatically when trading freely. The Standard Oil breakup is the model for understanding why regulatory "trust-busting" rarely reduces elite wealth: the breakup was structured to benefit the dominant existing shareholder.

The Medical Education Takeover โ€” The Flexner Report

In 1910, Abraham Flexner published a report on medical education in the United States commissioned by the Carnegie Foundation โ€” which was functioning as an extension of Rockefeller philanthropic interests. The Flexner Report condemned all medical schools that did not teach "science-based medicine" (i.e., petrochemical pharmacology) as inadequate. Schools teaching herbal medicine, homeopathy, naturopathy, and other alternative traditions were labelled unscientific. Within 20 years, the number of US medical schools dropped from 155 to 31. Only those aligned with Rockefeller-funded research received accreditation.

The result was the systematic elimination of natural medicine from mainstream healthcare and its replacement with a pharmaceutical model. Every drug treatment that replaced traditional plant-based medicine was a patent-protectable petrochemical compound โ€” generating perpetual royalty income for Rockefeller-connected pharmaceutical interests. The current Big Pharma model traces directly to this deliberate restructuring of medical education. (See: The Big Pharma Cartel)

The Council on Foreign Relations

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) was founded in 1921, partly funded by Rockefeller interests, and has been a primary institution through which US foreign policy is formulated outside democratic accountability. Every Secretary of State since 1945 except one has been a CFR member. The CFR does not make policy โ€” it creates the intellectual framework within which policy is made, and ensures that the people who make policy share a consistent worldview shaped by elite financial interests.

David Rockefeller's Own Words

"Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterising my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure โ€” one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." โ€” David Rockefeller, Memoirs, 2002.

Population Control & Third World Agenda

The Rockefeller Foundation funded and promoted population control programmes from the 1950s onward โ€” in India, Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Declassified NSSM-200 (1974) โ€” a National Security Study Memorandum authored under Henry Kissinger โ€” identified population growth in developing nations as a threat to US strategic interests and proposed family planning programmes as geopolitical tools. Kissinger was a CFR member and Rockefeller-connected figure. The study's policy recommendations were implemented through USAID and the World Bank.

The Rockefeller Foundation & Eugenics

The Rockefeller Foundation funded eugenics research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory from 1910 onward. It also funded the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute in Germany โ€” which was involved in racial science research that fed directly into Nazi racial policy. After WWII, the Foundation rebranded its population science interests as "demography" and "public health" โ€” but the personnel and intellectual lineage were continuous.

Rockefeller & the United Nations

John D. Rockefeller Jr. donated the land on which the United Nations headquarters was built in New York City (18 acres on the East River, $8.5 million, 1946). The family had direct financial interest in the UN system's establishment โ€” the UN framework for international economic governance was designed to serve the interests of the institutions (World Bank, IMF) in which Rockefeller-connected financial interests were dominant.
